Call, text a photo, or send the form. You get a person who sets tile for a living, not a scripted answer from a call center in another state.
What happens when you reach us
The first call is short and practical. We want to know which room, what is on the floor or wall now, and what is pushing you to change it. A cracked joint is a different conversation than a shower leaking into the ceiling below. We will ask how old the house is, because a home near the Historic District downtown has a different build than one out by Springbrook Prairie. We ask whether the room is your only bathroom. That single answer changes how we schedule, since nobody should lose their only shower for two weeks. If you already picked tile, tell us the size and the material. If you have not picked anything, that is fine too. Most people call us before they choose, and we would rather help you pick than fix a bad choice a year later.
A few things make that first call much more useful. Photos help more than words, so snap the whole wall or floor plus one close shot of the damage. A rough measurement in feet is plenty. We do not need a drawing. If you know when the house was built, say so, since anything from before the early eighties gets a conversation about testing old adhesive under the EPA rules. If there is water damage, tell us where the stain shows and whether it grows after somebody showers. That one detail often tells us whether the pan failed or the valve is leaking behind the wall. And if you have a hard date, a graduation party, family arriving, a closing on the house, say it early. We would rather build the schedule around your date than apologize for missing it.
After the call we set a time to come look. That visit takes under an hour for most rooms. We measure, tap the tile for hollow spots, check the floor for flex, and look behind the access panel if the house has one. Then you get a written scope that lists the work in plain language, the materials by type and size, and the number of days we expect to need. No mystery line items. If we see something that could turn into a surprise once a wall is open, we name it up front in writing and tell you what each path would mean for the schedule. You are free to sit with it as long as you want. We do not chase people. When you are ready, a signed scope and a start date is the whole of the paperwork.
Scheduling around real life is half the job. Tell us how you want us to get in. Some people hand us a garage code and head to work. Others want to be home for every hour, which is fine, though a tile job is loud and dusty through the middle stretch. We start most mornings between seven thirty and eight thirty, and we stop before dinner. Parking matters more than people expect on the narrow older streets near downtown, so tell us where the truck should sit. If you have a dog, say so, and we will keep doors shut and the gate latched. Trash leaves with us instead of filling your bin on collection day. On longer jobs we clear a walking path every evening so the house still works while one room is torn up.
When the last joint is grouted we walk the room with you before we load the truck. We point out where the soft joints are, the ones filled with flexible sealant at corners and at the base of walls, because those are meant to move and will need refreshing someday. That is normal, not a defect. We tell you when the shower can be used again, which is later than most people expect, and why rushing it is a bad trade. We explain what to clean with and, more to the point, what to keep away from the grout. If something looks off a month later, call us. Tile is a physical thing in a wet room and small issues do happen. We would rather come look and be wrong than have you living with a nagging spot you never mentioned.
One more thing worth saying plainly. We are not the right crew for every job. If your project is one cracked tile in a rental unit across the county, somebody closer will serve you better and we will tell you so. If you want the lowest number in town, we will not be it, because the hours we put into prep are not the hours a low number pays for. What we are good at is the work that has to hold up in bathrooms and kitchens people use every single day, in houses built the way houses around here were built. If that sounds like your project, reach out. Worst case, you get a straight opinion from someone who has opened a lot of walls in Naperville and knows what tends to be behind them.
